Waxworks - The Masters of Cinema Series (3)DAS WACHSFIGURENKABINETT/WAXWORKS (PG) 1924 GERMANY LENI, PAUL BLU RAY £20.99
A young writer is hired to write stories for the characters in a wax museum and he pens backstories for the Caliph of Baghdad, Ivan the Terrible and Jack the Ripper

However, as the accounts of these historical figures play out the writer imagines himself in each story alongside the museum owner’s daughter Eva in order to fulfil his unrequited love for her.

As there is no surviving original negative of the film, this newly restored edition by the Deutsche Kinemathek and Cineteca di Bologna, L’Immagine Ritrovata is composed of contemporary prints and additional film materials from archives around the world.

These materials were scanned in 4K resolution and then restored in 2K.

In German with English subtitles
