Set in 1970′ s Colonia Roma neighbourhood of Mexico City, the film follows the tumultuous period in the life of a middle-class family as seen through the eyes the maid Yalitza Aparicio and is loosely based on Alfonso Cuarón childhood in Mexico City.
Roma is a labour of love, Alfonso Cuarón deploying monumental black-and-white cinematography, an immersive soundtrack, and a mixture of professional and nonprofessional performances to shape its author’s memories and to pay tribute to the woman who nurtured him.
